Summary |
Acidic fibroblast growth factor is mitogenic for a varietyof different cell types and acts by stimulating mitogenesis orinducing morphological changes and differentiation. The FIBPprotein is an intracellular protein that binds selectively toacidic fibroblast growth factor (aFGF). It is postulated that FIBPmay be involved in the mitogenic action of aFGF. Two transcriptvariants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
