Function	Ubiquitin-like modifier that plays a role in intracellular transport of GABA(A) receptors and its interaction with the cytoskeleton. Involved in apoptosis. Involved in autophagy. Whereas LC3s are involved in elongation of the phagophore membrane, the GABARAP/GATE-16 subfamily is essential for a later stage in autophagosome maturation.
Summary	Gamma-aminobutyric acid A receptors [GABA(A) receptors] are ligand-gated chloride channels that mediate inhibitory neurotransmission. GABARAP is GABA(A) receptor-associated protein, which is highly positively charged in its N-terminus and shares sequence similarity with light chain-3 of microtubule-associated proteins 1A and 1B. This protein clusters neurotransmitter receptors by mediating interaction with the cytoskeleton.
Form	Purified polyclonal antibody supplied in PBS with 0.09% (W/V) sodium azide. This antibody is purified through a protein A column, followed by peptide affinity purification.

Secondary Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG, (H+L), Peroxidase conjugated at 1/10000 dilution. Predicted band size : 14 kDa Blocking/Dilution buffer: 5% NFDM/TBST. Fluorescent image of U251 cells stained with GABARAP (N-term) antibody. U251 cells were treated with Chloroquine (50 μM,16h), then fixed with 4% PFA (20 min), permeabilized with Triton X-100 (0.2%, 30 min). Cells were then incubated with APG03029G GABARAP (N-term) primary antibody (1:500, 2 h at room temperature). For secondary antibody, Alexa Fluor? 488 conjugated donkey anti-rabbit antibody (green) was used (1:1000, 1h). Nuclei were counterstained with Hoechst 33342 (blue) (10 μg/ml, 5 min). GABARAP immunoreactivity is localized to autophagic vacuoles in the cytoplasm of U251 cells. Western blot analysis of GABARAP (arrow) using purified Pab (Cat. APG03029G). 293 cell lysates (2 ug/lane) either nontransfected (Lane 1) or transiently transfected with the GABARAP gene (Lane 2) (Origene Technologies).
