Summary |
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of thesomatotropin/prolactin family of hormones and plays an importantrole in growth control. The gene is located at the growth hormonelocus on chromosome 17 along with four other related genes in thesame transcriptional orientation; an arrangement which is thoughtto have evolved by a series of gene duplications. Although the fivegenes share a remarkably high degree of sequence identity, they areexpressed selectively in different tissues. Alternative splicinggenerates additional isoforms of each of the five growth hormones, leading to further diversity and potential for specialization. Thisparticular family member is expressed mainly in the placenta andutilizes multiple transcription initiation sites. Expression of theidentical mature proteins for chorionic somatomammotropin hormones1 and 2 is upregulated during development, although the ratio of 1to 2 increases by term. Mutations in this gene result in placentallactogen deficiency and Silver-Russell syndrome. [provided byRefSeq].

CSH1 Antibody (C-term) (Cat. APR15610G) western blot analysis in MDA-MB435 cell line lysates (35ug/lane).This demonstrates the CSH1 antibody detected the CSH1 protein (arrow).
Western blot analysis of CSH1 (arrow) using rabbit polyclonal CSH1 Antibody (C-term) (Cat. APR15610G). 293 cell lysates (2 ug/lane) either nontransfected (Lane 1) or transiently transfected (Lane 2) with the CSH1 gene.
CSH1 Antibody (C-term) (Cat. APR15610G) immunohistochemistry analysis in formalin fixed and paraffin embedded human placenta tissue followed by peroxidase conjugation of the secondary antibody and DAB staining. This data demonstrates the use of the CSH1 Antibody (C-term) for immunohistochemistry. Clinical relevance has not been evaluated. |
