RNA-binding factor that recruits target transcripts to cytoplasmic protein-RNA complexes (mRNPs). This transcript 'caging' into mRNPs allows mRNA transport and transient storage. Alternate transcriptionalsplice variants, encoding different isoforms, have beencharacterized.
