Summary |
Tight junctions represent one mode of cell-to-celladhesion in epithelial or endothelial cell sheets, formingcontinuous seals around cells and serving as a physical barrier toprevent solutes and water from passing freely through theparacellular space. The protein encoded by this immunoglobulinsuperfamily gene member is localized in the tight junctions betweenhigh endothelial cells.
