The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing Thromboxane A2 The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the EK00760Ee kit is based on Thromboxane A2 antibody-Thromboxane A2 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect Thromboxane A2 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, recombinant, Thromboxane A2. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted human body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV (%).

Cellular Localization |
TXA2 is generated from prostaglandin H2 by thromboxane-A synthase. Aspirin irreversibly inhibits platelet cyclooxygenase 1 preventing the formation of prostaglandin H2, and therefore thromboxane A2.

Function |
Thromboxane A2 (TXA2) is a thromboxane. It is produced by activated platelets and has prothrombotic properties: it stimulates activation of new platelets as well as increases platelet aggregation. This is achieved by mediating expression of the glycoprotein complex GP IIb/IIIa in the cell membrane of platelets. Circulating fibrinogen binds these receptors on adjacent platelets, further strengthening the clot.
