The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing Heparan sulfate. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the EK00726Ee kit is based on Heparan sulfate antibody-Heparan sulfate antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect Heparan sulfate antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, recombinant, Heparan sulfate. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted human body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV (%).

Function |
Heparan sulfate (HS) is a linear polysaccharide found in all animal tissues. It occurs as a proteoglycan (HSPG) in which two or three HS chains are attached in close proximity to cell surface or extracellular matrix proteins. It is in this form that HS binds to a variety of protein ligands and regulates a wide variety of biological activities, including developmental processes, angiogenesis, blood coagulation and tumour metastasis. HS has been shown to serve as cellular receptor for a number of viruses including the respiratory syncytial virus.
