The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing Galectin-3 The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the EK00522E kit is based on Galectin-3 antibody-Galectin-3 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect Galectin-3 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, recombinant, Galectin-3. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted human body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV (%).

Function |
Galactose-specific lectin which binds IgE. May mediate with the alpha-3, beta-1 integrin the stimulation by CSPG4 of endothelial cells migration. In the nucleus: acts as a pre-mRNA splicing factor. Involved in acute inflammatory responses including neutrophil activation and adhesion, chemoattraction of monocytes macrophages, opsonization of apoptotic neutrophils, and activation of mast cells (By similarity). Together with DMBT1, required for terminal differentiation of columnar epithelial cells during early embryogenesis.
