|
||
Summary |
D(1A) dopamine receptor (DRD1) belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family and it is one of the five types of dopamine receptors (D1-D5) (1). DRD1 is the most expressed dopamine receptor in central nervous system and it is involved in the regulation of neuronal growth & development, and modulation of dopamine receptor D2-mediated events. G protein coupled DRD1 activates adenylyl cyclase which leads to activation of cyclic AMP dependent protein kinases. Polymorphism of DRD1 gene has been implicated in bipolar I disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) (1,2).
